Book Review: The Hunger Games

I read this book at the start of the year and I just have to write a review of it. The Hunger Games is a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins. I have read all three books in the series and I loved them, but the first in the series is by far the best.

The Hunger games takes place in a post-apocalyptic world and follows Katniss, a tough-as-nails teenager who is forced to take part in the ‘hunger games’ in place of her sister. The hunger games is where they choose a male and a female from each of the 12 districts and set them loose in an arena to kill each other. An amazing concept to say the least.

The book is completely captivating (I would know from reading it myself and when I lent it to my boyfriend he actually forgot to pick me up because he was so drawn into it). Kanitss’ thoughts draw you into the story and make you feel for everyone and everything she feels for. The fight scenes are described with detail and flow so you can picture it perfectly.

You really feel for the characters and you either love them and want them to live until the end or hate them and wish someone would kill them soon.

I would recommend The Hunger Games series to any teenager or adult who is interested in fantasy, fighting and suspense.
